Muslim Punjabis cannot be called migrants in their own country on the basis of relocating from East Punjab to West Punjab.
Immigrants are those who move to another nation’s land for refuge from their own land. Not immigrants are those who migrate from one place to another in their own country’s land.
The Muslims of UP CP benefited a lot in Pakistan by calling Muslim Punjabis as refugees and also becoming migrants. Rather, the Muslim Punjabis who migrated from East Punjab to West Punjab are called refugees. Used it well for your political ambitions.
After rejecting the recommendations of Muslim League’s “Cabinet Mission” and making demands through “Direct Action Day” was brought into existence on 15 August 1947 under the “Mount Batten Plan” of 3 June 1947, under the “Mountain Baton Plan” of 3rd June 1947.
After which, on August 17, 1947, Punjab was divided and 17 Muslim Punjabi-majority districts were added to Pakistan and 12 Hindu-Punjabi and Sikh-Punjabi-majority district were added to India. Because of which;
1. Hindu Punjabis and Sikh Punjabis had to move towards the east of Punjab from the west side of Punjab.
2. Muslim Punjabis from the east side of Punjab had to move to the west side of Punjab.
3. 20 lakh Punjabis were killed due to the partition of Punjab. 2 crore Punjabis were forced to relocate.
Just as Punjab was divided into Muslim Punjab and Non-Muslim Punjab at the time of Pakistan’s establishment. In the same way Muslims of UP CP wanted that; areas of UP and CP should also be divided into Muslim UP CP and Non-Muslim UP. Getting it split in the p.
But the Muslims of UP CP, took advantage of being a neighbor of East Punjab, hunted two with one arrow;
1. At first, the Muslim Punjabis who migrated from East Punjab to West Punjab and made them “immigrants” in their own country by removing the “Punjabi identity”.
2. The second is by taking the cover of Muslim Punjabis who migrate from East Punjab to West Punjab and declaring themselves as migrants in large cities of Punjab and Sindh. ‘Government of Pakistan, ‘Politics of Pakistan, ‘Journalism of Pakistan, ‘Government jobs’ Possessed the lands ‘ properties.
